 Captiva Shops, on Captiva Drive & Andy Rosse Lane, offer the expected variety of island and touristy knicknacks, plus a lot of unique and interesting opportunities. Check them out, you're bound to find a few things that you just can't live without.  

For art, home and gift items, we never miss dropping in to Jungle Drums  (located behind our development on Andy Rosse Lane). For beach necessities, visti Beach Stuff (located on Captiva Drive across from the fire station). 

There is an Outlet Mall just before you cross over the bridge to the islands which has Coach, Polo and a few other favorites. 

Another great Outlet Mall is  45 minutes away:  Miromar Outlet Mall.  Take I-75 South to Exit 123 (it's well marked, you won’t miss it). This mall seems to have everything – St. John, DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Coach, Cole Haan and many more. 

The Island Store in Captiva Village is very convenient for picking up odds and ends, however their selection is limited and items are pricey. For a short fifteen-minute drive to Bailey’s Grocery-Liquors- Hardware on Tarpon Bay Road in Sanibel you'll find a larger selection and better prices.
 

Another grocery is Jerry’s Foodsis on Periwinkle Drive, but we find its selection and prices less attractive than Baileys.
 

For excellent fresh seafood, the grocery stores are perfectly fine, but we most often buy our fish at Timbers Fish Market on Tarpon Bay Road. Seasonally, there is a fresh fish monger behind the Captiva Island Store.
 

If you are so inclined, check out the Farmer’s Marketon Sanibel on Sunday mornings from October through May. A great variety of vendors offer seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and much more. Parking is sometimes a challenge, but worth it.

There are also a lot of great places on Sanibel, including a series of strip malls on Periwinkle. One of our favorites is a place called Her Closet. There’s also a little gourmet shop next door which we can't seem to get enough of. With so many wonderful places to stop and shop on Sanibel, we encourage you to explore as many as you have time for! 

And if you absolutely have to find one of your common favorite superstores like Wal-Mart, Target, or Costco, head back to Fort Myers and go left on Hwy 41.

You can also go into Naples for plenty of highend shopping and into Fort Meyers to shop at the Bell Tower Mall.

Since the kitchen in the house is fully equipped, our guests tend to eat in for the majority of their meals. 

However, please note: Health Department regulations dictate that we leave absolutely no food products in the house before or after guests visit.   This means in addition to your main meal ingredients, you’ll need to bring along your basics butter, sugar, ketchup, mustard, condiments, etc. as well; perhaps pick up some condiment packs from your local fast food joint. 

Helpful Hint:  When we come to the home, we bring along small ziplock bags of each of the spices we plan to use; nothing worse than to spend six bucks for that half teaspoon of oregano.
 

If you have the time on your way to the Island, you can find the best selection and prices at Publix Market on Summerlin Road in Fort Myers. (See the driving instructions on the “Location” tab above.) 

We usually allow enough time on the way in to pick up our major provisions for the week.  You might also buy liquor off of the island for the best prices. Publix has both beer and wine and a liquor store is also located next door.
