Shopping & Dining

 There are restaurants and shops in Ft. Myers Beach, but nothing that you can’t find in Captiva or Sanibel.

But if you want to experience impossibly choked traffic to be reminded of Tijuana, go right ahead.

Traffic aside, at Ft. Meyers Beach beautiful turquoise waters lap up to white-sand beaches on this island town.

This town is just 25 miles from Captiva, but depending on traffic, the short trip can take anywhere between 45 minutes to two hours each way.

A little further up the road you’ll find the much larger mainland cities of Ft. Myers and Cape Coral;

both of which offer exceptional places to eat, drink, and shop!

There’s the beach, of course. Water is the main draw here, and you’ll find lots of ways to take advantage of the ocean including dolphin and sunset cruises, fishing charters, kayak rentals, and more.

Further inland you’ll find excellent birding and hiking at local nature preserves and state parks.

History abounds nearby at world-famous attractions like the Edison-Ford Winter Estates. Visit the Mound House for a look at Estero Island’s native Calusa culture.

 Dining options range from casual beachfront eateries to high-end fine dining.

Seafood is the centerpiece anywhere you go; the grouper, mullet, pompano, red snapper, and shrimp are excellent - and the setting seems to make them taste even better than you may have had them elsewhere!
